El certamen fue organizado en conjunto por el establecimiento educacional, junto con el Departamento Municipal de Deportes y el Programa de Promoción de Salud de Putaendo (Cesfam Valle de Los Libertadores ).
Destacamos también la participación del profesor Guillermo Quijanes, encargado del Taller Comunal de Ajedrez. 
Participaron un total de 30 jugadores, en dos categorías, con los siguientes resultados:
Categoría de 3 a 5 básico:
Primer lugar: Benjamín Menares.
Segundo lugar: Josué Bustamante
Tercer lugar: Juan José Lazcano Pacheco.
Categoría de 6 a 8 básico:
Primer lugar: Contanza Garcia Jara.
Segundo lugar: Francisca Garcia Jara.
Tercer lugar: Renata León.
Este tipo de instancias permiten mejorar la convivencia escolar, mientras también chicas y chicos aprenden y se entusiasman con el deporte ciencia.
