En el sector de La Colonia, Pedro Vergara Lobos (la víctima) habría intentado repeler el asalto a la transportista, siendo asesinado por uno de estos delincuentes que le disparó con un arma de fuego directamente en la cabeza del joven padre, quien falleció a los pocos minutos.
Tras cometido el brutal crimen, los imputados habrían escapado en la camioneta del fallecido para abandonarla horas más tarde en la comuna de Llay Llay.
