Una vez en ese lugar, ‘El Gaviota’ sacó un aparato de electro shock con el que le aplicó una descarga eléctrica a la conductora y luego la intimidó con un arma de fuego.
En esos momentos pasaba por el lugar en su camioneta el agricultor catemino Pedro Vergara Lobos (36), quien al ver el asalto trató de ayudar a la conductora del colectivo. Luego, junto a su compañero de fechorías ‘El Peruano’, se subieron a la camioneta de la víctima y se dieron a la fuga, dejando abandonado el vehículo en la comuna de Llay-Llay.
Ambos antisociales permanecieron prófugos hasta fines de enero de ese año, cuando oficiales de la Brigada de Homicidios de Los Andes liderada por el entonces comisario Gino Gutiérrez logaron su captura, así lo destacó también Los Andes Online en su portal de noticias.
