El ex presidente y actual tesorero de la junta de vigilancia del río Putaendo [JVRP] manifestó de manera categórica que el embalse chacrillas no debe ser pagado por los agricultores pues no está dando la eficiencia para lo cual fue construido, y no es justo que los pequeños agricultores deban pagar su administración y más encima pagar por algo que no es lo que se prometió.
Miguel Vega indicó que la dirección de obras hidráulicas [DOH] está presionando para que la junta de vigilancia se haga cargo de la administración del embalse, y eso es injusto pues “El embalse no da la eficiencia para lo cual fue construido, es decir un 85% de eficiencia para el regadío y hoy está dando solo el 0,10% y más encima tener que pagar la administración, hay agricultores que ya no dan más y el Presidente debe firmar algún decreto amparado en la ley 1123 artículo 13 y que se postergue el pago o sencillamente este embalse no se pague, yo firmé el protocolo de acuerdo cuando era presidente pero por un embalse con un 85% de eficiencia y no por lo que está dando y eso debe estudiarse, lo estamos analizando en el directorio y se lo manifesté incluso al Diputado Pardo, y será un error garrafal si nosotros aceptamos eso”

Vega también se refirió a la situación hídrica que está afectando al pais y la zona más aún cuando se advierte la llegada del fenómeno de la niña que acrecentará más la sequía y pronostica un año muy seco, advirtiendo que hay mucha preocupación y que hoy el embales solo garantiza agua hasta el 30 de Marzo aproximadamente y la decisión de acumular y guardar 100 litros por segundo fue muy asertiva aunque criticada por muchos pero gracias a eso hoy hay agua en el embalse para repartir aunque indicó que el caudal del río baja considerablemente semana a semana hoy por ejemplo su caudal es de 1.100 litros por segundo y en Marzo seguramente llegará hasta los 700 litros por segundo mientras que actualmente el embalse hay acumulado para repartir 10 millones de metros cúbicos, por lo que la situación se avecina muy preocupante y crítica para los agricultores del valle de Putaendo que hoy están regando cada 8 días.
