Correa dijo que posteriormente y luego de haber controlado ese incendio, a una distancia de 500 metros aproximadamente se originó un segundo incendio, el que descartó tenga relación con el fuego que se realizó en el primer incendio, pues este comenzó incluso cuando ya las unidades se retiraban del lugar.
La autoridad bomberil señaló que la emergencia más compleja se vivió en la villa Los Ríos, donde la primera información daba cuenta de un incendio estructural, lo que alertó al personal de bomberos producto de las enormes llamas que eran apreciables ya desde el centro de Putaendo, pero que afortunadamente al llegar al lugar no habían alcanzado las viviendas, reconociendo que el fuego estuvo a menos de 30 metros con un peligro inminente de alcanzar a lo menos cuatro viviendas de manera directa, agregando que la rápida intervención de las unidades de bomberos y el importante apoyo de los vecinos que con baldes y mangueras también ayudaron a apagar el fuego que consumió mucha vegetación entre ella totora, lo que generó un fuego mayor que puso en riesgo las viviendas de la villa Los Ríos.
