El motivo concreto de la construcción de este nuevo pozo por parte de Esval aun no esta del todo claro, pero una de las razones seria tener el respaldo con una segunda fuente de captación de aguas subterráneas ante la eventualidad que el actual pozo, continúe bajando tal como ha ocurrido por ejemplo con otros pozos de APR o particulares en la comuna de Putaendo a propósito de la falta de lluvias lo que ha hecho que las napas no se hayan podido recuperar y mantener en los últimos años.
