El rechazo a sido unánime por parte de la Junta de Vigilancia del Río Putaendo, el Alcalde Mauricio Quiroz y distinta organizaciones.

Cómo dificil de entender calificó la información que ya es de conocimiento de agricultores regantes e instituciones, el Alcalde Mauricio Quiroz en cuanto a la decisión de la D.O.H [Dirección de obras hidráulicas] de construir dos pozos profundos en el sector de Quebrada de Herrera y llevar esa agua para la Segunda Sección del río Aconcagua en desmedro de agricultores y vecinos de Putaendo.
La autoridad indicó que este tema fue tratado en la Reunión sostenida con distintos actores de la mesa hídrica el Viernes pasado y resulta muy preocupante pues la D.O.H al construir dos pozos más a los ya existente indudablemente debilitará más las napas subterráneas afectando incluso directamente al APR de Quebrada de Herrera y lo hará para llevar el agua para otro lado y eso le parece inaceptable tomando en cuenta la dramática situación que se está viviendo en Putaendo con la falta de agua y con la constante amenaza de los trabajos de la gran minería que también afectarán las napas subterráneas que hay en la comuna.
A pesar de no existir un pronunciamiento público de la Junta de Vigilancia del Río Putaendo, extraoficialmente se supo que esta decisión ha sido rechazada por la directiva y regantes y que han mantenido ya reuniones con la D.O.H para que reviertan esta decisión lo que hasta la fecha no ha prosperado y se mantiene intacta la decisión de construir dos pozos más en la ribera del río Putaendo en el sector de Quebrada de Herrera Para llevar agua para la Segunda Sección del río Aconcagua, mientras que en Putaendo la situación es cada vez más crítica y donde peligrosamente el pozo que abastece del vital elemento al APR de Quebrada de Herrera a disminuido drásticamente.
