La inversión fue posible gracias a la postulación que hiciera la municipalidad al fondo de seguridad pública de la Subsecretaría de Desarrollo Regional y Administrativo (SUBDERE) del Ministerio del Interior.
La inversión contempla la adquisición de modernas cámaras de televigilancia, la instalación de postes, tendidos eléctricos, conectividad vía fibra óptica y monitoreo 24/7.
De acuerdo a lo informado por el alcalde Mauricio Quiroz “esta inversión se suma a la adquisición, con recursos municipales, de otras 4 cámaras, que serán instaladas en Tabolango y Quebrada de Herrera, llegando a un total de 29 cámaras municipales que monitoreamos directamente.”
A las cámaras municipales, se debe sumar el servicio de monitoreo de otras 56 cámaras comunitarias (financiadas con recurso municipal y GORE) y 9 cámaras vía convenio con el comercio local.
