La alarma de Bomberos se activó a eso de las 06:40 horas y la primera información que manejaba Bomberos decía relación con bodegas envueltas en llamas a propósito de la enorme nube de humo de color negro y la altura que alcanzaban las llamas lo que era informado insistentemente a la central de Bomberos por vecinos del sector.
Solo cuando arribó la primera unidad de Bomberos, los voluntarios comprobaron que se trataba de una gran cantidad de cajas de plásticas que ardían violentamente y ponían en riesgo un camión, al respecto el teniente primero de la primera compañía César Olivares Vega, indicó a Radio Fm Vida y Putaendo Informa en el mismo lugar de la emergencia, que las bodegas no fueron alcanzadas por el fuego y que uno de los camiones que se encontraba en el lugar fue alcanzado parcialmente por las llamas pero la rápida intervención del personal evitó que dicho camión se incendiara, confirmando que más de 10.000 cajas de plástico que se encontraban apiladas en el patio de la empresa se quemaron por completo y que el material de las mismas generó la nube tóxica de color negro pues en el fondo todo lo que se quemó fue plastico que es altamente tóxico.
El oficial de Bombero no se refirió a las eventuales causas del inicio del incendio pues dijo son materia de investigación pero extraoficialmente una de las hipótesis que maneja la empresa afectada es que el fuego en un tambor que mantenía uno de los cuidadores durante la noche haya generado algún tipo de temperatura que alcanzó las cajas plásticas lo que habría originado posteriormente el incendio
