El pasado 23 de enero la Contraloría General de la Republica autorizó documento del Ministerio del Medio Ambiente que declara Santuario de la Naturaleza la zona de El Zaino – Laguna El Copín en la comuna de Santa María.
La resolución de la división jurídica de la Contraloría General, precisa que el documento ingresado a este organismo se encuentra “ajustado a derecho, pero cumple con precisar que, de acuerdo con el certificado de vigencia de constitución acompañado en el expediente administrativo, el nombre de la entidad a cargo de la administración del mencionado santuario es Comunidad de Campo de Jahuel, y no como se señala en los vistos y en el artículo 4° de la parte dispositiva del instrumento en estudio.”
El alcalde de Santa María, Claudio Zurita, celebró la aprobación del Decreto, a pesar de los alcances realizados por la Contraloría General, que serían de forma y no de fondo; “son palabras que hay que corregir, ya sea un dé por un la, son todas las observaciones salvables.”
La autoridad resaltó que después de casi diez años de gestiones junto a la comunidad de campo se esté consiguiendo el objetivo de que las de seis mil hectáreas del Cajón El Zaino hasta la Laguna El Copín sean un Santuario de la Naturaleza; “esto nos pone muy contentos, esto es el trabajo de muchos años, donde participaron varios presidentes de la comunidad de campo, el CIEM Aconcagua, la Municipalidad, mucha gente estuvo detrás de esto trabajando juntos para cuidar este patrimonio de la naturaleza para nuestros hijos, nietos, bisnietos.”
Zurita sostuvo que esto demuestra que más que hablar de medioambiente hay que hacer cosas concretas; “y lo que hizo la Comunidad de Campo de entregar estas miles de hectáreas para sean protegidas es algo muy importante en ese sentido. Cosa que se debe agradecer a los socios, a los comuneros.”
La máxima autoridad de Santa María añadió que espera que en los próximos días este la oficialización del Decreto y lo antes posible sea publicado en el Diario Oficial; “eso esperamos del Ministerio del Medio Ambiente para que esto sea una realidad como corresponde.”
El alcalde recordó que la Declaración de Santuario de la Naturaleza para el Cajón de El Zaino y la laguna El Copín partió en momento en que la minería intentó explotar esa zona; “efectivamente, pero si insisten ahora siendo Santuario les va a costar mucho mas. Lo que nos pone muy contentos porque la idea siempre ha sido proteger ese hermoso sector de la comuna, que es muy especial, porque en plena sequía todavía sus vertientes dan agua que riega los campos de Jahuel y dan agua de bebida a la comunidad.”
