Por segundo año consecutivo y tomando en cuenta la situación sanitaria, la Ilustre Municipalidad de Putaendo , decidió suspender el tradicional carnaval de la Chaya que se realizaba en la plaza de armas , darán lugar a masivos carnavales territoriales que se realizarán en distintos sectores .
Desde el municipio el encargado del área de cultura Christofer Mercado indicó que la idea presentada por el alcalde Mauricio Quiróz y que fue respaldada por el consejo municipal, tiene por finalidad llevar espectáculos con artistas de renombre nacional , además de artistas locales a distintos sectores de la comuna , para que los vecinos de ese sector , puedan también vender sus productos y generar recursos a las instituciones de esos mismos sectores .
Mercado agregó que están en la etapa de contactar a los distintos artistas cuyos nombres serán anunciados oficialmente , sin embargo preliminarmente serán cinco sectores rurales para los carnavales una presentación en el centro de la comuna , más una jornada musical de Rinconada de Silva.
El calendario tentativo para los distintos carnavales unificados territoriales es el siguiente : .
Viernes 11 de Febrero : Carnaval en sectores de Quebrada de Herrera – Granallas .
Sábado 12 de Febrero : Carnaval en sector de Las Coimas .
Viernes 18 de Febrero : Carnaval en sectores de – Casablanca- los Patos .
Sábado 19 de Febrero : Carnaval en sectores de Piguchen -Población Hidalgo .
Viernes 25 de Febrero:. Carnaval sector de Guzmanes- El Tártaro
Sábado 26 de Febrero: Carnaval en Putaendo sector parque Puente de Cimbra.
El séptimo carnaval corresponde a una noche de jornada musical en el sector de Rinconada de Silva en fecha aún por definir.
Además de estos carnavales se realizarán intervenciones artísticas en la plaza de Putaendo y calle Comercio [Boulevard] entre el 14 y 20 de Febrero los días Viernes y Sábados, a lo que se sumaran una semana de actividades culturales conmemorativas de la cabalgata del Ejército Libertador desde el 4 al 7 de Febrero, donde dicha cabalgata partirá el día 30 de Enero, esperando realizar la ceremonia oficial en el Combate de Achupallas el dia 4 de Febrero.
