El fuego totalmente fuera de control dejó daños totales en la antigua vivienda donde lamentablemente nada se pudo hacer para rescatar a la mujer que murió en una de las habitaciones del inmueble.

Un incendio estructural fuera de control que afectó una antigua casona ubicada en la Plazuela de Quebrada de Herrera, dejó como saldo una persona fallecida la cual no pudo ser rescatada desde el interior del inmueble que resultó totalmente destruido por el fuego.
El incendio se desató minutos antes de las 01:00 horas de este Lunes 1 de Junio en la vivienda de propiedad del empresario José Manuel Carter, quien resultó con algunas quemaduras menores cuando intentó rescatar a su esposa lo que fue imposible pues el incendio estaba totalmente fuera de control donde las llamas envolvieron la casona en cosa de minutos generando incluso el colapso de gran parte del techo de la misma.
Bomberos que fue alertado que al interior de la vivienda había una persona realizó grandes esfuerzos para intentar controlar el fuego y de manera especial en el sector que se indicaba donde se encontraba un dormitorio hasta que lograron ingresar dos Bomberos que lamentablemente encontraron a la mujer ya fallecida.
El trabajo de Bomberos se centró en evitar que el fuego se propagara a otras dependencias y una vez que se logró controlar el sitio fue aislado tomando el procedimiento Carabineros de Quebrada de Herrera quien de manera oficial confirmó el deceso de la esposa del propietario del inmueble identificada como Emilia Ines Ramelli Carretón de 75 años.
Al cierre de esta edición (03:55 horas) el fiscal de turno instruyó que se constituyera personal especializado de la Brigada de Homicidios de la Policía de Investigaciones de Los Andes para realizar las pericias al cuerpo y al sitio del suceso y no se descarta que en las próximas horas arribe el personal de la BICRIM de la misma policía civil de Valparaíso para apoyar el trabajo de la BH. En tanto Bomberos paralelamente comenzaba la investigación estipulada para este tipo de incendios con la finalidad de intentar establecer las causas probables de este incendio.
