El deceso se produjo en horas de la tarde de este Miércoles en la clínica Reñaca de Viña del Mar, producto de una complicación respiratoria donde se encontraba hospitalizado desde hace varios meses.

ante el sensible fallecimiento del alcalde Guillermo Reyes Cortez
En horas de la tarde de este miércoles 9 de diciembre de 2020 dejó de existir el querido alcalde de Putaendo, don Guillermo Heriberto Reyes Cortez.
Lo anterior ha generado un enorme e indudable pesar en la comunidad Putaendina, encabezada por el alcalde(s) Sergio Zamora y el Honorable Concejo Municipal.
Ante esto, el alcalde(s) Sergio Zamora decretó tres días de duelo comunal en Putaendo.
A su vez, tanto las autoridades como también funcionarias y funcionarios municipales desean expresar sus condolencias por esta irreparable pérdida, pues don Guillermo fue siempre muy cercano con las personas mientras estuvo trabajando.
Todos quienes conocieron a don Guillermo saben que él tenía una personalidad única. Siempre se le recordará por su alegría y compromiso por el desarrollo, el progreso, la historia y el patrimonio del “Sol de Aconcagua”, como a él le gustaba decirle a su querido Putaendo.
UNA VIDA LLENA DE TRABAJO HACIA LOS DEMÁS
Guillermo Heriberto Reyes Cortez nació el 10 de junio de 1955 en el seno de una humilde familia de Valparaíso. Desde muy pequeño tuvo consciencia de las desigualdades e injusticias sociales y quiso ser un aporte para mejorar el país.
En 1994 llegó al Valle de Aconcagua convirtiéndose en un destacado y querido gobernador de la provincia de San Felipe. Ya en aquellos años sintió un gran aprecio por Putaendo, sobre todo por la sencillez de sus habitantes y por sus paisajes tan hermosos.
Encantado por su historia y con una profunda vocación de servicio, decidió vivir en el “El Primer Pueblo Libre de Chile” ganándose muy pronto el cariño de la gente, ya que siempre se caracterizó por su carisma y simpatía.
En el año 2008 fue elegido alcalde de la “Capital Patrimonial de Aconcagua”. Fue relecto en 2012 y 2016 con amplia mayoría.
Durante su administración, Putaendo avanzó a pasos agigantados en infraestructura, turismo, patrimonio, áreas verdes, tejido social y desarrollo humano como nunca antes en su historia.
Aquejado por problemas de salud, anunció su renuncia en enero del año 2020. En marzo, las y los ediles comunales ordenaron que una de las obras por las que él tuvo más aprecio, el Parque Municipal, llevara su nombre, decisión que generó enorme aceptación por la comunidad local.
Su deceso ha generado un tremendo impacto en quienes le conocieron y trabajaron a su lado durante su mandato comunal.
Este jueves 10 de diciembre, a las 8:30 de la mañana, se realizará un pequeño responso en las afueras del edificio consistorial en memoria de quien ya es considerado el mejor alcalde de la historia de Putaendo.
